Heart of England's 3 Vitos (1)

The Heart of England Co-operative is one of the most successful co-operative funeral businesses in the country, running a fleet of 27 vehicles to cover a large part of the Midlands. In September, Superior UK delivered three personalised, high-tech Mercedes Vito removal vehicles.

“We cover a large and busy area of the country,” explained Darryl Smith, The Heart of England Co-operative Society’s General Manager of Funerals. “We needed to replace some of our older removal vehicles, and used the opportunity to upgrade tonewer Vitos. The Vito has been our choice of first-call vehicle for many years, and Superior UK have always helped us to personalise the most updated version.”

The Heart Of England Co-op’s three new Mercedes Vito removal vehicles were designed to look like an MPV, not a van, with interior and exterior detailing that reflects the professional and modern image of this reputable local funeral service provider.

“We took the basic design of the Vito, and asked Superior UK to add sat nav systems, air conditioning, and exterior detailing that works beautifully with our signature Tenorite Grey paintwork,” Darryl explained. “We chose automatics to make them easier to drive. We are a modern and forward-thinking funeral business, and our fleet needs to reflect our values. The finished product looks like an MPV, which is exactly what we wanted.  They are great looking vehicles which are a dream to use.”

The three new Vito vehicles from Superior UK were designed to compliment the firm’s existing ceremonial vehicles, for an eye-catching and high-performance fleet. Every Vito in the fleet now has custom paintwork in Tenorite Grey, with colour-coded bumpers, alloy wheels, tinted windows, and chrome detailing.

Kevin Smith hands over Vitos to Darryl Smith

Kevin Smith of Superior UK said it was a pleasure to help Darryl Smith with the latest additions to his large fleet. “We have worked with the Heart of England Co-operative for many years, and always enjoy helping Darryl with the exact specifications he needs. His latest Vitos look fantastic and we were proud to deliver them. It was great to see them in their new home, with the other removal vehicles and limousines we have sourced for Darryl over the years.”

The Heart of England Co-operative now have a full Superior UK fleet of limousines and first call ambulances, with 14 of their 27-vehicles fleet provided by Superior UK.

“As always, Kevin and the entire Superior UK team were very helpful,” said Darryl. “Like me, he has spent his entire career in the funeral industry and he is really passionate about funeral vehicles. This makes the ordering process a pleasure. We spent plenty of time talking about the specs, and finalising the extra details I wanted to make these Vitos personalised and unique. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

The Heart of England’s new Vito vehicles have been well received by the co-operative’s drivers and the families they serve. Superior UK are proud to be part of the story.

The Latest Mercedes-Benz Vito Joins Heart of England Co-operative’s Fleet

The Heart of England Co-operative runs a large fleet of more than 20 vehicles across thirteen funeral homes across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. Darryl Smith, Heart of England Co-operative Society’s General Manager of Funerals, explains why he choose to renew with another Mercedes Benz Vito.

“We have used the Vito as our choice of first-call vehicle for years,” said Darryl, “so when it was time to update the oldest vehicle in the fleet, the latest model of Vito was the obvious choice. The Vito has always been a hard working and high performing fleet vehicle, but the latest model has an upgraded shape and interior which suits our modern, forward-thinking business style.”

The Heart of England Co-operative Society is one of the most successful co-operative businesses in the country, with two new funeral homes opened already this year. The business runs a fleet of more than 20 hearses, limousines, and first-call ambulances. “Superior UK helped us put together an eye-catching fleet of Mercedes Benz hearses and matching limousines in our bespoke colour choice – Tenorite Grey,” explained Darryl, “and it’s important that our Vitos match the ceremonial vehicles as closely as possible. Kevin has been great at helping us customise our Vitos to fit in with our distinctive look.”

Darryl’s first-call Vitos are all finished in Flint Grey dark metallic paintwork, with colour-coded bumpers, alloy wheels and tinted glass. “The Vito looks more like an executive vehicle than a removal vehicle,” said Darryl. “This newest Vito has an improved driving position and automatic gear box, which makes it drive more like a car than a van. It’s had positive responses from our clients, and from our drivers. The bespoke hydraulic Rise & Fall decking designed and installed by Superior makes every transfer safer and easier for my team.”

Superior UK have supplied Heart of England Co-operative Society with more than 10 vehicles in the past four years, and have built a close working relationship with Darryl and his team.

“I can always rely on Superior UK to provide us with the right advice,” said Darryl, “ and then help us choose and customise vehicles when we are ready.”

Darryl discovered one surprising benefit of running Mercedes-Benz Vitos: the resale price. “This new Vito replaces one that was three years old,” he explained. “We got a very good price for it, partly because it’s a Mercedes-Benz but also because it was a Superior UK vehicle. People know that means a quality vehicle that has always been looked after properly. Every vehicle we have had from Superior has been great quality.”

Superior UK are delighted to be the chosen supplier of  Heart of England Co-operative Society. “We are always happy to advise Darryl, and help him choose vehicles which support the vision and values of the business,” said Kevin Smith at Superior UK.

The Heart of England Co-operative Society is one of the most successful co-operative businesses in the country, and Darryl’s current position in the business marks more than 30 years experience in the funeral profession, of which 6 years are with the Heart of England Co-operative Society.

The Heart of England Co-operative had previously updated part of their ceremonial fleet with two new Mercedes Benz hearses and four matching Mercedes Benz limousines from Superior UK. These attractive vehicles were commissioned in the funeral firm’s own colour choice of Tenorite Grey with bespoke details including the AMG sport pack’s front and rear bumpers, along with stylish 5 spoke alloy wheels.

The two new Vito first call vehicles from Superior UK were designed to closely match the six ceremonial vehicles, resulting in a fleet for the Heart of England Co-operative which is as eye-catching as it is reliable and efficient.

“We asked Superior UK to provide us with our new vehicles for a number of reasons,” explained Darryl. “We have built up a close relationship with Kevin and the Smith family, and know we can rely on them to provide us with the best vehicles, advice and support. They really understand the direction in which we want to take the business, and they appreciate that our vehicles are an important part of this. I know we can trust them to deliver.

“And we’re very keen on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, particularly the BlueEFFICIENCY models, which are safe, efficient and environmentally sound with great fuel economy.”

The Mercedes Benz Vito first call vehicles are striking, in Flint Grey dark metallic paintwork, with colour-coded bumpers, alloy wheels and tinted glass. “We’re extremely pleased with the vehicles,” said Darryl. “They were specifically designed to look more like an executive people carrier rather than a private ambulance. So far they have been very well received, and our colleagues who drive them seem impressed, too. The new features like cruise control, speed limiter, integrated blue tooth, air conditioning  and increased horsepower make them more enjoyable to drive whilst the hydraulic rise and fall decking gives us extra confidence in our approach to health and safety.”

The Heart of England Co-operative Society’s eight-fleet line-up of stunning grey Mercedes Benz vehicles from Superior UK is the perfect illustration of this modern, forward-thinking funeral business outlook. Their choice of vehicle is not the only innovative business decision they’ve made recently. Darryl is excited about the recent launch of the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s funeral app, designed for iOS devices, as it is one of the first Co-operative’s in the UK to use this type of technology in their funeral division.

Superior UK are proud to be the chosen automotive partner of such a successful and cutting-edge co-operative business and are delighted to provide quality vehicles which help Darryl and his team demonstrate their modern image whilst delivering on traditional values.
