Pilato E-Class Limousine To Join Polaris In Luxury Mercedes Line-Up

News from Italy: Pilato in partnership with Superior UK are building a flagship limousine to complement the Polaris hearse

January 2019 saw the start of a very exciting project between Pilato in Italy and Superior UK (as Pilato’s first and only official agent). The Pilato range already includes the stunning high-end Polaris E-Class hearse. Thanks to close collaboration between Superior UK and Pilato, there will soon be an E-class limousine. Watch this space for the name!

An E-Class Limousine To Match The Polaris Hearse

Superior UK are Pilato’s official partner and first distributing agent. So when we told Pilato that the UK market was crying out for an E-class limousine with unrivalled aesthetics, quality, and finish, the team agreed to build it. We’ve been serving the UK funeral industry for generations, and we are proud of the trust our customer place in us. When you tell us you want an outstanding quality limousine, we will pull out all the stops to get it designed and built for you. And that’s why the new E-class Pilato has come into existence. For you.

Once Pilato agreed to build it for us, the E-class limousine project started to move fast. Faster than any other vehicle design and build we’ve ever known. We aim to have the first vehicle on our NFE stand at Stoneleigh in June, so keep an eye on our news pages as the show draws closer.

Where The Polaris Leads, The Limousine Will Follow

The stunning Polaris E-class hearse has been Pilato’s flagship vehicle, unmistakeable in its sheer quality and design. We promise the limousine will match the standards of the hearse. It will be aesthetically pleasing – long, roomy, and airy but not too long (we know it has to be usable for the UK’s smaller roads, and older burial grounds and crematoriums). We can reveal that it will have the panoramic glass roof you have come to associate with top-of-the-range limousines, but this feature will be done with Pilato’s unmistakable flair. This car will be unlike anything you’ve seen before it.

“Pilato is the most exciting and forward-thinking vehicle brand in the funeral industry,” said Kevin Smith of Superior UK. “They are constantly pushing ahead with design ideas, and investing heavily into their factory. Superior UK is proud to be so closely involved with Pilato developments, and able to bring these luxury vehicles to UK customers. I’m glad we’re along for the ride!”

The premium vehicle will be primarily used by funeral directors, but we expect our order book to include high end non-funeral clientele and VIPs, too. We expect the vehicle to be that level of desirability and design, with fit and finish to mirror the original car on which it is built.

Specifications & Features

Whilst the Pilato E-class limousine doesn’t have a name (yet), we can definitely tell you about the spec, features, and customisation options. The vehicle will be a 9-speed automatic, in diesel or petrol, with heated front seats, air-con and luxury climate control, navigation, parking sensors and reversing camera. It will have a panoramic glass roof (Italian style) and the option of privacy glass, full-size centre bench seat, 64 colour ambient lighting, and LED head and tail lamps.

Mercedes-Benz Quality E-Class Limousine

Kevin Smith is thrilled to play such a key role in the development of the new E-class limousine. “Customers can expect Mercedes-Benz quality throughout this vehicle,” he said. “We know the funeral market in the UK are looking for a limousine of a certain quality, and we have been able to communicate this desire to Pilato. And the Italians are delivering! Pilato vehicles are a step ahead of anything we have ever worked with, and the new limousine will be no exception. I can not wait to reveal this amazing new car to our customers.”

The Pilato E-class limousine will be the most hotly-anticipated premium branded product in the funeral industry. It’s exactly the right size, wide and roomy with plenty of leg room. The glass roof gives an airy feel, and the luxurious interior will leave you in no doubt as to the quality of vehicle you are travelling in.

W S Ingham & Son Turns Heads Making Switch To Jaguar For New Fleet

W S Ingham & Son independent funeral firm had run Ford vehicles for over 10 years. From the moment they saw Superior UK’s Pilato demonstrator, the decision was made – the next new ceremonial vehicles would be Pilato Jaguar. Tony Ingham explains why his new cars have the wow factor.

Superior Ingham 5

“We’ve made a lot of changes to our premises over the past 6 years,” Tony says, “including two extensions and new garages. We take pride in being a modern, forward-thinking business. It was about time our fleet reflected those values and showed the local community how we like to take care of them.”

Tony, who runs W S Ingham & Son with his mother Pat, had been running a fleet of Ford vehicles, but when looking to change they were not wowed by the new models. Tony felt they just lacked that ‘certain something’.

“We actually tried out the new model of our existing fleet cars,” he explains, “ and they were just OK, certainly not special enough for how we like to do things. I knew that Superior work with Pilato Jaguar, so I got in touch. They were quick to respond, and brought the demonstrator for a visit.”

As soon as Tony saw the XF GrandAurora hearse, he realised how different it is to anything else on the market.

“It was clear from first glance that Pilato have thought about Funeral Directors and designed something that really works for us,” he says. “Greg from Superior talked about all the extras and personal touches we could have – and the decision was made. Once I’d seen the GrandAurora, I couldn’t imagine us with anything else.”

The GrandAurora certainly has the wow-factor, but Tony wanted a whole new fleet. Alongside his new hearse, he also required two limousines, and we were able to help him personalise his new XJ limousines with plenty of special touches.

“We’ve never had a Jaguar fleet before,” says Tony, “but this entire process was so smooth and easy. By far the most exciting part for me was our visit to the Pilato factory in Italy. What a wonderful experience! It’s amazing to see your vehicles being made. The factory is remarkable, and the Pilato family can’t do enough for you. It’s thanks to Superior that we were able to have that experience.”

At the Pilato factory, Tony and his fiancee Debbie gave their cars the ultimate personalised touch: a signature on the interior whilst the vehicles were in build.

“This is the third new fleet I’ve bought, and I’ve never been asked to put my signature inside my cars before now,” says Tony. “Debbie found it so overwhelming, she burst into tears.”

A New Fleet That Turns Heads In Brand Colours

The Ingham family were able to customise their hearse and limousines with the features, spec, and finish they wanted – down to every last detail.

“We like to be different,” says Tony. “So it is great to have ceremonial cars that match our company colours and help us stand out.”

When the vehicles were ready, Superior had them delivered by covered transporter for the official handover at W S Ingham & Son’s impressive Mansfield premises.

“Driving the new cars onto our premises on the day was an amazing experience,” says Tony. “The entire team came out to welcome the cars. Since then, they’ve been out on the road and the response has always been “WOW!” They have been an absolute dream to drive. And the service we’ve received from Superior is second to none.”

Kevin Smith from Superior UK says what a pleasure it was to help W S Ingham & Son with their Pilato Jaguar fleet.

“Tony was very clear in what he wanted from his cars,” he says, “it was refreshing to work with a Funeral Director who is so hands-on. Taking Tony and Debbie out to Pilato in Italy was a great experience and I enjoyed showing them the lengths Pilato go to in making dreams a reality. It has been great to demonstrate what the Superior/Pilato partnership is capable of. These three cars are absolutely beautiful!”

Superior Ingham 9

W S Ingham & Son was set up in 1927 by Tony’s grandfather. Tony explains why luxury ceremonial vehicles are an integral part of a modern Funeral Director business.

“Giving our families the best possible service is the most important thing to us,” he says, “and these vehicles are a massive investment for our company. Having cars like these shows our commitment to families and to our local community. We care about every detail of the service we offer.”

It’s not often that you get to see how the vehicles you drive every day are built. But that’s exactly what happened when Jonathan Stretch from FC Douch & Sons (Funerals) Ltd in Dorset was invited to the Binz factory in Stuttgart, Germany.

The trip was part of Superior UK’s planned visit to Binz. Kevin Smith of Superior was travelling to Pilato in Italy and Binz in Germany to discuss customer requirements and get involved in the development of future products.

The Douch Family Funeral Directors have been customers of Superior for more than 10 years. In that time, Kevin has sourced and delivered all their funeral vehicles. With 8 branches across Dorset, Douch Family Funeral Directors run a large fleet of Binz and Mercedes Benz funeral vehicles and personal vehicles.

As part of this very special customer visit, Jonathan Stretch from Douch Family Funeral Directors received a personal tour of the Binz factory. “It was a wonderful trip,” he said. “From the minute I landed, I had an informative, entertaining and amusing time. Everyone at Binz was welcoming and obviously very proud of everything they are doing at the factory.

“Having purchased many Mercedes Benz vehicles over the past 10 years, I was keen to see the actual build process. When Kevin at Superior said he could help facilitate this, I jumped at the chance! We are long serving customers of Superior and this just demonstrates Kevin’s genuine commitment to customer relationships.”

Jonathan was particularly keen to see the new E Class. “It was fascinating to see how the cars are built from the ground up,” he said. “We are already considering the new E Class as future hearses and limousines. Getting to see the vehicle in the factory gave us a new level of insight into the build quality.”

It’s A Superior Surprise For Thomas Grieve & Son

When Anthony Grieve arrived at work on 18th November, he was presented with a huge surprise from his father Bill Grieve: a brand-new Binz hearse and limousine to mark the handover of business from father to son.

WP_20151117_15_16_04_ProUnknown to him, his father Bill had been working away behind the scenes with the help of Kevin Smith at Superior UK to arrange purchase and delivery of two bespoke vehicles. After 28 years running Thomas Grieve & Son, Bill plans to retire next year. What better way to begin the handover than with two shiny new cars, custom-built to the Grieve family’s exact specifications.

The Mercedes hearse and limousine vehicles were manufactured at Binz in Germany and delivered to Thomas Grieve & Son’s West Lothian offices by Superior UK, Binz’s UK partner.

Like the rest of the firm’s fleet, the two new vehicles are stunning Palladium Grey which demonstrates Grieve’s modern, forward-thinking mindset. “We are in the process of upgrading our entire fleet to matching Palladium Grey Binz Mercedes vehicles,” said Bill Grieve. “As far as we are aware, we are the only funeral directors in the area that use this colour.”

Bill Grieve and his own father, Thomas, started the business in 1987 in Blackburn, West Lothian. The company is still based in Blackburn but has now grown, employing 15 members of staff across four locations, and offering chauffeur hire services. The happy recipient of the vehicles, Anthony Grieve, represents the third generation of this thriving and hard-working funeral firm.

“As soon as I saw the new cars in the yard, I realised what Dad had arranged,” said Anthony. “I was blown away by the surprise. The cars were put to work straight away and have been a huge asset to our fleet. My Dad and I have run the business tougher for the past eight years, and I’ll use the solid work-ethic he’s taught me to take the business forward when he retires.

“My own sons – the fourth generation – will join the business before too long. I hope these cars will still be in our fleet then, so I can in turn pass them down to my sons.”

The new hearse and limousine join Grieve’s existing fleet of two Binz hearses and limousines, and four Mercedes Binz family cars, all in the eye-catching Palladium Silver.

“This was a very special delivery of a hearse and limousine,” says Kevin Smith at Superior UK. “It was all arranged as a top secret gift from Bill Grieves to his son, and we were honoured to be a trusted part of the arrangements. The handover was very special!”

First fleet for Goodridge Milford Funeral Directors comes from Superior UK

Handover Goodridge Milford FD LoResSharon Goodridge-Milford and her family formed Goodridge Milford Funeral Directors in March 2011 but the company’s history stretches back through generations of funeral directors. Their heritage lies in the Goodridge Milford Funeral Home, and – like their predecessors – they serve the West Midlands. Sharon and her brother-in-law Winston explained how important the selection of their very first fleet was to the company’s future.

“Although we all have a great deal of experience in the industry, Goodridge Milford is only a few years old,” said Sharon, “and every business decision is close to our hearts. Earlier this year, it was time for us to purchase our first ever fleet of vehicles.

“We already knew we wanted Mercedes Benz vehicles, but hadn’t chosen a supplier, nor had we decided on the exact model of vehicles. We were very fortunate to connect with Kevin Smith and family at Superior UK, who guided us all the way.

“We’d seen the Binz hearse, and preferred it over the traditional Mercedes Benz shape for a funeral vehicle. We actually discovered Superior UK through an internet search. Shortly after sending our first enquiry, Kevin got it touch. The speed and personal nature of his contact set the tone for the relationship.

“From that very first phone call, Kevin was very helpful and accommodating, He told us history of the company and explained all the differences between the Binz and trade Mercedes Benz hearse. We were confident that we’d made the right decision for Goodridge Milford.”

The decision may have been made, but there was a lot more that Superior UK wanted to do to ensure Goodridge Milford were confident in their decision to purchase a Binz fleet.

“Kevin invited us to Superior’s HQ and workshop near Reading,” said Winston, Sharon’s brother-in-law, and the partner who oversees operations and fleet. “We were able to view all of the cars and look around them at our leisure.

“After that first visit, Kevin kept in regular contact. We were given first refusal when a suitable fleet became available, and I visited Superior UK with Sharon’s two sons, Marquell and Kyle, to be shown the exact vehicles. The cars were pristine, and we felt very reassured.”

Kevin at Superior assisted further by handling Goodridge Milford’s exact specifications, pairing the vehicles, transferring number plates, and even assisting the funeral firm with obtaining vehicle finance.

“When it came to delivery, we gave Superior a very small window of time,” recalled Winston. “We actually needed the vehicles here with just 24 hours notice. Kevin was able to meet our deadline and delivered the vehicles to our door well within the 24 hours. In fact, I was a bit embarrassed, because he was there waiting for me when I turned up to work at 8:30am. And I live locally! That really impressed me.”

As always, Superior UK delivered the customer vehicles by specialist covered transporter. “The handover went like clockwork,” said Winston. “Kevin and his team were brilliant, went through every detail of the cars and showed us around them. We are all delighted with them; we couldn’t ask for better vehicles.”

“It’s Winston and my sons who are driving the vehicles,” said Sharon, “but I can tell they are beautiful to drive. It’s difficult to think that they’re not brand new, because they drive like new and the condition is excellent. We’ve received very positive feedback from families: they love the look of the cars from a distance, and then once inside they comment on the quality and how smooth the journey is.”

“The condition of the cars was always important to us,” explained Winston. “Appearance, safety and visual appeal is key for us and for our families. We haven’t had any issues with the cars, but we know any after-care from Superior will be great, and it’s reassuring to know that the post-sale support is there.”

Goodridge Milford are now looking for additional fleet vehicles and have once again turned to Superior UK for assistance. “It certainly strikes a cord with us that Superior UK are a family business too,” said Sharon. “The close working relationship between Kevin and Peter is noticeable and it’s something we can understand and appreciate.”
